How I decorated my home for fall

To me decorating the bar cart is one of the easiest and most fun ways to add seasonal decor to your home. 

These pumpkins were from last year but they have similar ones again this year at Target! 

I have shade of blue in my family room so I was so excited to incorporate pumpkins in this color scheme!!  I purchased these in the Target dollar section!

Skull Candy Dish

I love these pumpkins and the touches of gold they have, I purchased them at target from the dollar section area! Bath and Body works candles are also just such a fall essential...am I right????

For October I have set my table with this cute black and white checkered tablecloth, I love the pop of yellow from these napkins too!

I love to add some fall pillows to make everything feel cozy! I am also so obsessed with these and you could add white furry ones in the mix too!

My front entry way is the hardest to photograph because there is no natural light and one wall is a giant mirror...but I added all white pumpkins with some green eucalyptus! These mini pumpkins are so cute in this bowl that I always use to fill with seasonal goodies!

These cute pumpkins were actually something we purchased for our engagement party several years ago. Now we need to add a baby L pumpkin to the mix! They do not have these exact ones anymore but how cute are these they have this year? Kirklands has tons of other monogrammed fall stuff too...I always like to have some personalization!

I went to visit my parents in Wisconsin last weekend and couldn't resist to stop in their downtown area to take pictures by the gorgeous trees. The leaves change so much sooner there than they do in Chicago...it's crazy! It was one of the first nice fall days we have had so far and I couldn't wait to wear this scarf/cape. Its so cozy and is the perfect thing to wear with leggings! I am also obsessed with hair bow right now...maybe I am taking style notes from my daughter now?

5 Lipstick Shades for fall

I love fall because it's the time of year when I can pull out my favorite lipstick shades. The dark berry colors and fall neutrals that complement so many skin tones and can make a huge statement. 

Here are my five favorites in no particular order.

1.  Craving - This color is great for everyday wear. I go through this tube the most just because it can be worn with anything!

2.  D for Danger- This is what I am wearing in my pictures, the tube looks darker than it is in my opinion. It's a perfect berry hue for fall!

3.  Sin- This is a super dark berry color that I love for date night!

4.  Lily Lake - Fall plaids, and leopard prints, just about everything looks good with this color and it's easier on your bank account too!

5.  Capricious- This is another everyday favorite of mine, its a perfect neutral for everyday and looks so great with big cozy sweaters in oatmeal, ivory and gray!

Fall Neutrals

I love cozy fall neutrals that you can wear endless ways. It would be so easy to throw a pop of color into this outfit with a  burgundy hat or bag, I chose to keep it simple with my absolute favorite fall color. It is the perfect everyday color and looks good on so many skin tones! I wore it this weekend while trying on wedding dresses and also decided that it the most perfect color for our wedding...not too dark but just enough color!

Fall Flannel

Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year. I never want to miss a minute of fall, of the beautiful trees and the crisp air. I also think that it is the most fun season to dress for. There are so many fun layers, warm fabrics and bold colors. 

One of my favorites for fall has always been plaid, I cannot get enough of it. Its so festive and can be worn so many different ways; dresses, skirts, tops, handbags! 

I saw this plaid shirtdress and knew I had to have it for fall. It is so incredibly soft and comfy! I paired it with a long suede vest a couple days later and it completely changed the look. Layering can take your favorite fall pieces and transform them into endless looks!

Denim Style Secret

YAY! It's friday. I am celebrating Thanksgiving with my family this weekend because I will be in Chicago with Daves family next week. I am so excited to also do some decorating with my mom this weekend. I am so ready for all things Christmas!!

I wore this outfit running out to the grocery store with Dave last weekend in DC. We made the yummiest crock pot beef roast!! My denim is the secret that I want to tell you all about. I am denim obsessed, I hoard denim, I really truly do. I need some new denim so so badly but have not had the time to go to Nordstrom and try on 7000 pairs…which is always what I have to do. Whenever I need denim fast and cheap I go to Zara. I think the quality is great and most pairs are $39. I wear a size 6 consistanty across all styles and each time the fit is perfect. I think that Zara is truly world class in fit. I would recommend these jeans to anyone who needs to add a few more pairs to their wardrobe or if you are not yet ready to spend a big chunk of change on designer.

One for One with Tom's

I spent the weekend in Minneapolis visiting my family. My sister and one of my brothers live there. I have been missing my nieces so incredibly much that I decided to take a three day weekend and head up to Minnesota to spend some time with them. I took Lucia to Build A Bear at the Mall of America on Friday. She loved it so much! She made a bunny and named her Princess Banana Peel. She was so excited that we had to throw a Birthday Party for her bunny that night, we went and picked up cupcakes. She chose a carrot cake for the bunny because well...bunnies like carrots of course!! She is such a clever three year old. We had the best time just laughing and playing and spending quality time together. I am so in love with my wonderful family!!! We started the countdown until Christmas when we will all be together...now only 45 days!

I wore this scarf out and about on Saturday and it is so warm and cozy. I ended up wrapping it around me more like a shawl because it felt warmer to me that way...you can also see more of the pattern and the pretty colors in the scarf this way!

I am also obsessed with these +TOMS wedges, they are so comfortable & stylish but they are so much more than that! I am a huge advocate for children across the world..from my own nieces to the children I had the privelage of meeting in an orphanage in China. Any company that gives back to children is pretty awesome in my book, that is why I have always been and will continue to be a huge fan of Toms and all that they stand for.
