Family Photo Inspo

  There are several things I have learned over the years in regards to getting ready to have photos taken. These are the things that make me feel my best before taking photos:

SELF TANNER: I always put on some sort of self tanner the night before, this makes SUCH a difference to me. I am obsessed with these drops that I mix with my good old Jergens moisturizer. The medium is my favorite for the most natural glow, but I have also used the dark and have been happy with the results. I use this self tanner on my face and absolutely love it too, I use it three times a week!! Just make sure you really wash in-between your fingers or you will be stained!  FYII; Before I used these drops I was a die-hard Jergens Natural Glow self tanner girl...this option is much more budget friendly!

PAINT YOUR NAILS: I also always paint my nails because it just makes me feel put together, I swear by this top coat to make sure my nails don't chip before the photos! 

BLOW IT OUT: The other game changer for me has been this hair dryer! I usually just let my hair air dry but I always always use this hair drying brush before an event because it makes my hair so smooth and adds so much volume. 

BAT THOSE LASHES: The last thing I have found to make a big difference in photos is wearing false eyelashes. If you put them on and feel like you feel crazy or unnatural...its ok I have TOTALLY felt like that too but I promise that they look so great in photos!! These are my absolute favorites.

GET ORGANIZED: My last tip to you is to be organized...especially if you are doing a family photo shoot and need a lot of different outfits. I always lay out the pieces on my bed and see how all the colors look together. I personally think that solids are the best foundation to start with for photos and mixing in only one to two prints that are not too busy. For an end of summer photoshoot in a sunflower field I was really inspired by this black and white gingham dress and then planned all the other pieces around it. I didn't want the black and white to be super harsh so I softened the overall look with cream and some soft chambray! I added a red lip to my look for a pop of contrasting color with the yellow sunflowers!

Olive and navy is another color combination that I love for fall photos! I really like this particular color combo balanced out with a light gray...make sure you have enough of the gray (or cream if you like that better) to make sure your photos are not dominated by the dark navy or olive. This mens crew neck is from AMAZON!! I bought it for Dave and he wears it all the time, it looks really nice on and I think the color would be great for fall photos.

Nordstrom Sale 2020

This year I focused my Nordstrom Sale post on Items that I love based on past purchases or and items that really help to build your wardrobe and will remain staples there! I personally think that the Nordstrom Sale is a great time to buy items that rarely go on sale...like more expensive denim brands, Fall shoes, and outerwear! Of course these are also the items that sell out the quickest so you need to be ready!!!

I added two pairs of black denim to my list above because I wear them so often in fall! The made well pair are such a good fit and in my experience have minimal fading when cared for properly.

The Patagonia jacket is going to go fast...it might be gone by the time you read this but I am really hoping to get one this year!! 

The boots I have shown above are a personal favorite of mine, the updated point this year is AMAZE and you will reach for these all the time!!! I wear mine fall and spring and they are absolutely worth every single penny!

My favorite jammies of all time now come in a pink and white stripe...if you are having a baby girl please buy these and wear them in the hospital for me!!!!! SO CUTE! I have worn these jammies in the hospital with both of my babies and reach for them more often than any others.

The Nordstrom Sale always holds some good baby finds....things that will absolutely not go on sale at any other time (in my experience). The Uppababy stroller is what we have and use with two babies as a double stroller right now...we LOVE it and this is a great deal on one of their prettiest colors! We also use this Nuna Carseat with Lila and are really happy with it...I paid full price so this is awesome for anyone who is looking for a convertible car seat! 

The Little Giraffe blanket is the softest thing ever and I am so happy I purchased it in white with my first baby! Now I use it with our baby boy and it is just as soft as when I bought it. The quality is great and it washes up amazing. 

The Comotomo bottles are another thing that will never go on sale elsewhere...you get both sizes with this deal and I would absolutely recommend this!

Playhouse Remodel

We are really really happy we made the decision to move out of the city this year. Our condo would have been really hard to live in with two little babies, and our backyard has been a life saver! We have been spending tons of time outside playing with chalk, bubbles...if its an outdoor toy sold at Target we probably have it out of quarantine desperation. I decided that I wanted a play house for Lila in the backyard too but the ones I actually liked were crazy expensive. I saw tons of cute play house hacks on Pinterest and decided to tackle one myself! I ordered everything online without setting foot in a store. It was such a fun and easy project and I totally reccommend this particular play house!!!

I wanted the farmhouse modern feel to the house...haha! White house, Black trim & roof with a beuuatiful french blue door. I also spray painted the kitchen bronze because the way it came was just not as cute!

Kid Closet Organization

WOO HAPPY MONDAY! it is Monday isnt it?? This quarantine life is crazy you guys!! I organized both Lila and Teddy's closets while I was pregnant and in the nesting mode. This is such a budget friendly and beyond easy way to organize the inside of your closet and I could not be happier with the way it turned out! These cubbies and cubes have kept me so organized and keep the closets looking so pretty! I wanted to share in case any of you needed a quarantine project...these items came to my house within the week I ordered them and everything was so easy to assemble!

The cubbies I used are these here and you can select either the dark wood color or the white! There are also smaller sizes available like this one and this one! I will link all the cubes seperately under each photo as the color schemes are so different!

Lila Rose's First Birthday

I just realized that I never shared Lila's First Birthday photos on the blog! I was in the midst of major pregnancy fatigue and sickness in the days and weeks that followed her birthday so somehow this got missed...amongst many many other things!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2019 Picks

These are hands down the best pajamas of all time. I cannot say enough good things about them. They are so stretchy and soft and the first thing I want to change into after a long day. I bought two pairs last yearand wore them in the hospital after I had Lila. I have been waiting for the sale to stock up again!

These tanks go like hot cakes you guys! The little eyelash trim is just so cute and can be layered with everything!!! I am also so in love with these slip on sneakers!! I wear these like crazy in fall and I love the trendy infusion of the snake skin on these!

Here is the tank again in the leopard!! Its just so incredibly cute you guys! I cant wait to wear this for my next date night! I also made a b-line for these booties the second I got into the store. They are so cute with the little V detail!

I cannot resist the denim at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. These are always such a great deal becuase designer denim hardly ever goes on sale...and if it does its never in my size.

Here is a roundup of all the looks I shared on my 4th of July try on session I did on my instagram story yesterday! There are such good looks here and something in every price range! 

I typically am more casual on the fourth as I spend the Holiday at my families lake home in Northern Wisconsin.  We will have 25 people up there this year... PARTY!! It is such a special place to me because growing up my cousins and I would spend our days outside on the beach, swimming in the lake or just running around having the time of our lives. Now that I have Lila I can't wait for her to build these relationships with her cousins and my cousins babies!! It makes my heart so happy!
